For the *scratched issue, we're not using the shelf as a decoration, anyway. But that's really no excuse for packing up a marred product. The scratches (and missing paint) were apparent as we pulled the shelves out of the box. The scratches didn't occur during shipping (it was well-protected in Styrofoam), so the product must have been flawed before it was boxed for shipping. Dishonest practice on the seller's part: "Shhhh... let's hope they don't notice or don't care that we're selling them factory rejects..." For the *wonky issue, the final assembled shelf tipped back and forth on opposite legs. We opted to "fix" the problem by adding a felt floor-protector dot to one foot. And as for the *slightly confusing issue, there were collars included which didn't seem to fit anywhere. We'd JUST put it all together, when I thought, "Oh -- those collars go on the legs above each shelf!" Then we took it apart to add the collars, but discovered the collars were too tight to slide down the legs. So we reassembled the shelf. Then it hit me, "Oh, duh! The collars are split!" So we took it all apart again only to discover I was wrong again. The one collar I'd inspected and on which I found a "split" wasn't split -- it was broken. The rest were solid collars that simply didn't fit anywhere. So we put the shelf together a third time and omitted the collars. The little brochure (not "instructions," per se, which weren't included in the box) didn't mention the collars, one way or the other. I've saved them, just in case... BUT -- the whole mess is sturdy enough to do the job for which I intended. It sets in a tall cupboard behind the kitchen trash can, supporting heavy counter-top appliances I only use occasionally (i.e. certain ceramic crock pots) and a fire extinguisher. They're out of the way but easily accessed, just as I wanted, so the shelf is definitely useful. The instructions show assembling vertical, but I find assembling horizontally works better. The connector halves will not fit tightly together around the leg UNTIL the shelf socket is in place to clamp them together. On the leg, if you slide the connector up and down, you will feel a slight click as it is properly positioned on the leg at whatever height you choose. 1 person, tool-less assembly.Lay 2 legs on the floor horizontally, then with the shelf on its edge (90 degrees to the floor), slide each leg up until the connectors fit into the sockets. This minimizes the risk of knocking a connector off before it is seated as you can hold it together as you position the leg through the socket, holding the shelf with your other hand. Then rotate horizontally 90 degrees and do the same for the 3rd leg, another 90 degree rotation and the 4th leg is in place. Now carefully stand it up and press down on the shelf on opposite sides to firmly seat. Then back horizontally, position the connectors on the 2 "upper" legs, slide the shelf horizontally into position. Rotate 180 degrees and position the other 2 connectors into their sockets, tilting the shelf "sideways" to allow the connectors to fit into their sockets. Then flip upright and firmly seat the shelf. With 2 shelves holding the legs steady, depending on how far down the top shelf will sit, if it is close to the top, a vertical seating is possible. Otherwise, repeat the above.Box arrived with a UPS "kiss" (puncture) in the box, but everything inside OK. Small blemish on 1 leg, 1 leg also did not EASILY screw into the connector (unlike the other 3), but did finally get it to work (perhaps slight indent at the end of the leg).Shelf feels very sturdy. The shelf sides face down, not up, for strength. The unit is well designed and manufactured; the parts fit with no problems. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for these reasons:1) I ordered it in black but the chrome was delivered, and I decided to live with that. BUT I expect to receive exactly what I ordered, not a substitute.2) I thought there were parts missing and when I tried to do a return I was asked to reach out to HoneyCanDo customer service to resolve the issue. The phone number provided was incorrect; so, I went to the website and communicated with the chatbot which was no help. I then watched a YouTube video on how to assemble the unit (WHY NOT LIST THAT FIRST IN THE SMALL PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS?!) and realized that the parts that I thought were missing were packing assists to secure the parts during shipping. I would recommend that more information be included in the instructions, including watching the assembly video, and that the illustrations be larger and clearer. In addition, the Amazon website includes a recommendation for 4 inch wheels with this small unit. Those wheels are too massive. I bought those but decided to keep them for future uses. I then bought Seville Classic 3 inch wheels/casters and they are compatible with this unit.I have two of these in a stacked configuration and will be buying three more to make a 3-stacked version. Bought because of the unique size and they are very sturdy and have adjustable feet to level themAssembly took a little figuring out but once you get the hang of it they go together quick. The clips align with the ridges on the rods and stay in place well while you press the shelf onto them.I have put together several shelves like this and its very easy. This was no exception. Only took a few minutes once I decided what levels I wanted each shelf. And I had some caster wheels from another shelf that I didn't use that I used on this one and they fit perfectly. This shelf is exactly what I was looking for to stack my printers. Absolutely perfect. I did not have to reinforce the shelf plastic cups that the shelf slides over. Mine held on like they were supposed to.I will say I bought mine in like new condition and that wasn't quite accurate. Whomever returned it must haves had a hard time because some of the black powder coat had been chipped off. So it might be easy to chip if you're rough with the shelf. Otherwise I think it's great. This shelf is quite and sturdy. I am using it to hold a computer beside my desk although it does seem stable enough to store a printer or some heavy objects as long as their load is spread out across the mesh.Installation can be completed with one person in about 30 min - 1 hour depending on if you have installed mesh shelving before. Its installation is fairly standard, plastic sleeves are put on the poles at the desired height and then the shelves are slid over them. You can install 2 or 3 three of the shelves, installing a single one is not recommended as the shelf legs would become unstable. The feet also have screws in them to raise and lower them by a few centimeters in case the shelf doesn't sit completely flat or is on a uneven surface.A complaint I have is that the shelf doesn't include any plastic tops unlike some other mesh shelving I own, this is a annoying downside if you want to store smaller items as they would just fall through the racks, even smaller bottles would fall over as the wires on the shelves are quite far apart (3 cm spacing). But I can't really complain that much as the shelf cost ~$42 with tax and its all metal.I also quite like the black finish, I bought this color since it fits in with my black topped desk. The finish is matte, its made with some kind of plastic material its quite durable, and wont scratch from getting bumped or hit, but is vulnerable to knives and other sharp objects that can cut the plastic. As mentioned in another review, Part E (the clamps that supposedly support each layer of shelf) do not fit at all. As you can see in the photos one side fits together but then I’m left with a gap on the other side. Feel like I’ve been duped. No way to contact the manufacturer so I’m not sure if I have the wrong part or what.Reasonably priced, handy with three shelves! It can fit in so many places! For the price these are an excellent buy. I use them as night tables in a guest bedroom. They were easy to put together and seem sturdy enough for the purpose.Fits perfectly. Shelves can be customized to varying spacing allowing large items on one shelf and smaller on another. The shelves can also be equally spaced.
