Love these shelves! Assembly was a bit challenging as the shelf frames have to fit exactly into the slots to anchor. That means I had to get a rubber mallet on occasion & pound pretty hard to get them in place. The next layer was easier but some frame sections just needed that rubber mallet treatment to settle into place. Tolerances are close but that's what makes for stability. If they don't snap in all the way I can see how it would not be stable or level. That would explain why one of the reviewers claimed it fell apart. Gotta be a nitpick for detail to get it right! Can't cut corners with the frame! The top shelf frame took me several days of trying to fit into place. And looks like I will be moving that one again up to the top to gain 2" for the shelf below. I didn't think there would be enough room to the ceiling but looks like there is. An adjustment about to happen before I build the new ones I'm ordering today. After the bottom and next layer of frames was in place I moved the unit into place in the garage, with a little help from my friends, right against a wall, and finished the last two layers of shelf frames there. The wood shelves dropped in like butter! It's very stable and solid, better than the ones with metal shelves. If I recall the 36"x18"x72" holds some 900lb of stuff, around 150lb per shelf. Love these shelves! That's all folks! Gotta get my order in for 2 more of these to get the clutter off the floor in the garage...maybe get my car in there sometime soon! This is an excellent product. It is extremely sturdy and stable as the legs and frame members are rolled heavy gauge steel. The rivets on the frame members engage the rivet slots behind the face of the legs so the outside is smooth--invisible rivets. The boards are 24" x 48" medium density 1/2" particle board with a hard smooth surface. The shelves are adjustable in increments of about 2". My unit is filled with cases of canned goods and grains packaged in laminated mylar/aluminum/polyethylene food storage bags; fully loaded it weighs about 1000#. The unit is a bit pricey but it is a very impressive product. I have five units from a different manufacture I purchased 10 years ago that have served me well, but this one is even better with better fit and finish. The first one arrived without any steel. The second one arrived with MOST of the steel. MOST of the parts, the ones they provided, are bent and need work in order to make them fit. No instructions. No parts list. Crappy packaging that makes a huge mess when one opens the box. A shameful example of American manufacturing. Twice as expensive and no pride.Other than that.....I needed the shelves to be 36 x 18, however they are shorter in both dimensions. The amazon technical description states that the length of the product is 38 x 19.25, however this is false. it is barely even 36 x 18 even including the small area taken up by the frame. The actual build quality is very good, so if you want a decent shelf, make sure you don't need it to be the size advertised. It Was not the product advertised .I just received the packages yesterday. I have not had a chance to unbox yet, but the plastic strapping on the outside of the box was mostly broken and rewrapped with clear packaging tape. The metal pieces are exposed through the bottom of the box. So I’ll know tomorrow if all the pieces were able to survive the delivery.Update- missing the post couplers in the box, but they may have just fallen out during the shipping as there were gaping holes in the box.
